The finale that moved the schedule
A soap opera ends after decades and national broadcast schedules were rearranged around it.
Not an attachment to a character but to a piece of shared civic infrastructure, and grief measured academically in the same weeks. It is the clearest evidence that parasocial bonds can attach to a place, not a person.
Application. One-sided attachment put to work on purpose. Creator economies, community, fandom as infrastructure, and the things that genuinely help people. Not automatically good - a tool with an obvious use is a tool that will also get a bad one.
