Podcast listeners score suspiciously high on parasocial attachment
And so do people who like novelty and good conversation, which is most of us and a good deal less exotic than the discourse assumes.
Podcast listening is the single most parasocial habit in the English language and it is very rarely discussed as such, because it does not look like the stereotype. A host's voice in your ear twice a week for four years is a closer relationship than most people have with anyone who has not met them. This study is the first one I have seen that says so plainly.
