Identification with a team
Supporting a club as a condition of belonging to a place, a class, a family, or a city.
A parasocial bond with an address. The team is the only large-scale attachment in modern life that arrives with geography attached, which is why a relegation is felt as a personal event by people who have never met the players.
Application. One-sided attachment put to work on purpose. Creator economies, community, fandom as infrastructure, and the things that genuinely help people. Not automatically good - a tool with an obvious use is a tool that will also get a bad one.
